“Bridget, you make chocolates and ice cream all day, how do you stay so slim?”
This is the one question I get asked again and again and I want to share my recipe with you for staying slim, effortlessly.
Research tells us that 60% of the population are obese, 20% morbidly obese draining the health services and affecting people physically and just as importantly , mentally.
In my 15 years as a nutritionist (yep, who also makes ice cream and chocolate!) it has become very obvious to me that the connection between food and emotion affects 90% of the female clients I see.
Whilst there are highly successful diets out there I believe that there are 3 areas that are not addressed
- They are not sustainable long-term.
- They don’t address emotional eating.
- You are left feeling deprived.
What does slim look like?
I have always been quite small but before I started with my Six Pack Chick nutrition I was around 58 kilos and 26% body fat.
I then wrote a book and shed a few kilos and dropped my body fat down.
I have since tweaked my approach and am now 50 kilos with 17% body fat. I look and feel SO much better.
My approach to food has changed completely in the past few years and I have found a way of eating that I can sustain using a combination of diets. It works so well for me and I would love to know how it could work for you too.
You may be thinking that this is just another fad diet?
I promise you…..It isn’t.
It is sustainable and you just need to give it a try to see how it can work for YOU.
I use a combination of a ketogenic diet and 16:8 fasting.
What is a ketogenic diet?
Quite simply, it is getting your body to run on ketones. When you lower your intake of carbohydrates, after a while your body gets used to using stored body fat as a fuel. This state is called ketosis.
You literally become your own fat-burning machine.

What is 16:8 fasting?
I came across 16:8 fasting by reading an article by wolverine actor Hugh Jackman. To get into awesome shape he used a very simple approach of fasting for 16 hours and then eating within an 8 hour window,

So I have taken these two principles and rolled them into one very easy to follow plan. I follow this easily and am in the best shape of my life.
Key benefits I have found
- My adult acne has cleared up.
- I am now 17% body fat (from 25%).
- My constant bloating has gone.
- I don’t think about food all day long.
- I have much more energy.
- I don’t crave sugar.
- I have run for 10 miles, effortlessly without eating anything before or during the run.
- I have saved lots of money.
- I can order plenty of food choices when I go out.
- My persistent anxiety/depression has lifted.
How it could work for you:
- You have excess weight to lose.
- You have PCOS.
- You obsess about food all the time.
- You crave sweet and/or starchy carbs.
- Exercise leaves you feeling starving.
- You suffer from low mood/depression.
This approach is not for everyone, but I have found after years of experimenting with lots of different ideas and approaches I have found the secret to staying slim.
If you have struggled for years with yo-yo dieting and cannot shift the weight you want then give this a serious go. I have got rid of my excess fat and no longer obsess about food. My partner thinks I am much more pleasant too (now isn’t THAT worth striving for???).
Let me know if you have any question? I will be writing a lot about this and hope to connect with you really soon.
