I love a good podcast.
In fact I listen to them on almost every long run or walk that I now do.
It doesn’t seem to matter whether they are funny or interesting or in-depth and serious, just the voice chattering away in my ears helps me relax as I run.
This list will get longer – for now I don’t want to overwhelm you with too many to subscribe to!
Podcast 1 – Runners Connect
I hadn’t heard of the Runners Connect Podcast until the wonderful Tina Muir contacted me.
I am so glad she did as I have been binge-listening to the podcast ever since!
The podcast is hosted in America by Tina who moved to the States in 2007 to pursue her running career. She has a lovely talking voice and a humble yet inspiring race record…. the perfect blend.
If you want to learn more about how to improve all aspects of your running from fuel to feeling great then I can highly recommend a regular dose of Tina and her amazing guests.
It has slipped into the top spot as a really great running podcast. Thank you Tina for contacting me!
Podcast 2 – Marathon Training Academy
Angie and Trevor are the kinds of people you would like to be friends with.
Angie got into running after having a second child and moving across the country, she was looking for a way to get back in shape and change her life for the better. After running her first marathon in 2008 she was plagued by injuries. Deciding to tough it out, she crossed the finish line in 4 hours 10 minutes. and admits it was both painful and exhilarating.
Determined to find a smarter way to train and share it with the world, Angie began a quest that is now Marathon Training Academy. She has since run 38 marathons (and 3 ultramarathons) injury free with a PR of 3:35:41. Her goal is to run a marathon in every state and inspire as many people as possible.
They have turned Angie’s incredible drive and passion for running into this outstanding academy. They are a big reason for me getting back into running and one day I would LOVE to meet them.
Their podcasts are great to listen to whatever stage you are at but particularly if you dream of and actually want to RUN a marathon.
Podcast 3 – Fat-Burning Man
Abel James as you can see from this image is a
really fat, pizza-eating, couch potato really lean example of someone who practises what he preaches.
Not strictly a running podcast but really fascinating if you are interested in diet, health and life-hacks in general.
He interviews some really interesting people and I like the mix of subjects he hones in on.
Podcast 4 – The Tim Ferriss Show
If you haven’t heard of Tim Ferriss then you should. He is the master of self-improvement and has written some ground-breaking books.
What I love about his interviews is that he really knows how to pick the brains of specialists and then condense often complex answers into information that is easy to remember. It’s quite a skill. His guests have included Jamie Foxx, Tony Robbins and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Podcast 5 – Another Mother Runner
I am not a mother and I love these listening to these chicks chatter away.
Another Mother Runner is the brainchild of Denise, Sarah, Jonna and Dimity.
The women are friends and it shows – the podcasts are really like chatting to a great friend and that’s what you want when you are two hours into a long run, struggling….
So these are my top 5 at the moment and I will be adding more soon. I hope you enjoy them and if you have any recommendations for great podcasts that runners may enjoy….let me know.
Here’s to a great running week!
